Master the Moment and The Big Bad JOB Interview

If you count yourself among the nervous types, take heart in the following advice – because there’s hope on the horizon. A lot of people on this planet (you’d be surprised how many) will never fulfill their dreams. It’s because just like the lion in The Wizard of Oz, they lack ‘da noive’ – or rather ‘the nerve’. They can’t manage their ‘noives’ and blow important, albeit stressful, events – like job interviews.
Most people agree that taking chances makes life more interesting. Similarly, most people also agree that staying in a job that makes you miserable and bored will not lead to a fulfilling existence, prosperity or ultimate career success. Here’s what’s standing between you and your dream job: the big bad job interview.
The Big Bad JOB Interview has fangs, lives in a dark cave, eats job candidates whole and just plain stinks. While this may seem far-fetched, I’ve seen more pale, ghostly faces, quivering voices and sweaty hands on the other side of an interviewing table than I have at weddings or in hospital delivery rooms.
Job Interviews, like marriage or parenthood, can be scary at first, but with practice, we become better spouses and better parents. Likewise, we can become better job candidates. For those of you who’ve walked down the isle (at least once) or are parents, compare the latter to the former – and it should pale in comparison. For those of you who haven’t tied the knot and don’t have a pre-teen or three at home plotting your upheaval, imagine you do – and the Big Bad Job Interview will run away with its tail between its legs. But first, if you want to scare it away, you have to practice.
Practice makes perfect. The 60 Second Sell makes a winner, not just a survivor – every time. Where to begin?
