Interview Tips- Interview Success is a Skill-set Video 7

Why Right-brainers Rule”
In a previous video, we talked about the fact that statistically, you’ve only got 60 seconds to get hired in an interview – and you’re not likely going to get hired just because you can do the job. Again, if you can’t sell yourself to a recruiter or employer, hook line & sinker, within the first 60 seconds of your interview, you’ll never make it to the ‘three minute mark’, much less have a hope in Hades of getting hired. That’s the reality of job hunting. How has it become a universal truth?

Universities and colleges are happy to hand you the degree or diploma you worked so hard to earn. What they don’t do is offer any assistance to help you get hired for your first professional job, nor do they prepare you for the fact that you’re going to need not only your degree and some experience, but also excellent communication skills if you intend to be ultimately successful in your field.

Neither do they teach basic financial planning or money management – but that’s another issue all together. The message they send is basically, “You’re on your own out there, pal. We’ve done OUR part for your education.” To a great extent, they have. But the rest is up to you. No matter whether you’re a recent graduate or a seasoned pro, it’s time to accept the fact that interview success is a skill-set: one that you can’t afford to be without if you’re aiming for success. And it’s never too late (or too early, for that matter) to learn a new skill-set that will propel you to the next level: by that I mean landing your dream job or helping you advance in the one you have, if you desire to do so.

As an interview coach, I’ve developed a series of exercises that are specifically geared towards high achievers, among whom most IT professionals and Engineering professionals can be found. This series of exercises, researched, tried and tested, are based on behavioural patterns and on how your mind actually works. These exercises will definitely change your interviewing life for the better, forever, if you follow them closely, adhere to their principles and do them faithfully – and often. They will teach you how to interview successfully, regardless of how you’ve interviewed in the past. And stay tuned – I will be sharing those exercises with you in upcoming episodes.

But first, as I said earlier, you need to wrap your head around some really basic logical concepts that will change the way you think – so you can change the way you act and communicate – get confident and get hired now – or whenever you’re ready to go through the interview process.

So, why do Right-Brainers RULE? Here’s a recent quote from Booklist magazine, published by the American Library Association: “’Abundance, Asia, and automation.’… if you don’t take these words into serious consideration, sooner or later your career will suffer because of one of those forces.
Expand your RIGHT BRAIN if you plan to survive and prosper in the Western world.”

After doing nothing but researching interview and communications skills for many, many years, I’m going to save you the time and effort required to become an expert in the field and just lay it all out. It’s as simple as this: It takes a Whole Brain to make a Balanced Individual; and it takes a Balanced Individual to achieve ‘A Perfect Interview’.
