Left Brain Versus Right Brain in the Interview Process-Video 2

Your Unlimited Brain Power
Sound like something you could go for? Well, let me assure you, it’s certainly attainable – though some will need to work harder for it than others: it all depends on certain biological factors that you may or may not be aware of. In short, it has to do with how you’re ‘wired’, for lack of a better term. Are you left brain versus right brain?

Let me explain:

The way you’ve used your brain in the past, along with your innate proclivities, will dictate how you work and communicate in the workplace, and ultimately how successful you will be. You may be wondering how that relates to you directly – well, this is how:

We are all born fully integrated beings. Somewhere along the way as we were growing up, most of us made a decision to use one or the other sides of our brain predominantly. We essentially left one or the other behind, finding the use of it unnecessary for whatever particular education or career we were pursuing. Western education has in the past heavily favoured left-brained thinking that has produced careful manipulators and implementers of information.

There is new evidence, however, that these skills, though highly beneficial and necessary, now need to be balanced by softer, right-brained skills, in order to be of use to anyone, let alone ourselves, in the time which we have already embarked upon – the Conceptual Age. Having no right-brained people skills means you may not be as successful in an interview and may ultimately get pushed to the bottom of the heap of resumes or candidates.

Life balancing is an art form. Those who are able to balance not only their left and right brains, but their work and personal lives, are among the most successful, self-fulfilled and healthy individuals on the planet. In fact, IQ attests for only 15-20% of career success. Therefore, the mastery of right-brain aptitudes is now the main way for individuals to stand in a crowded, predominantly left-brain marketplace. And these right-brain qualities will ultimately determine who during the interview process, who gets hired, who flourishes and who flounders.
